What are the advantages of Powder Coating?
Advantages include;
1. Cost effectiveness. Thanks to it’s efficient application, powder coating translates to lower costs than the wet paint process.
2. Highly resistance to wear and tear, no matter what it’s used for, resistance to fading, chipping, scratches and wearing. This durability is suited for metal parts that come into contact with sunlight and other environmental factors.
3. Environmentally friendly (negligible release of VOCs) and is energy and material efficient.
4. Choice of finish including Matt, Gloss or Texture.
5. It provides a more durable finish than liquid paints can offer, while still providing an attractive finish.
What is the Powder Coating Process?
Powder coating works by applying dry polyester/epoxy powder to a metal surface, before baking the colour onto the surface using heat to form a hard finish. The colour powder is applied electrostatically using a powder coating gun.
Step 1 – Cleaning pre treatment chemical is required to ensure the part
is free of any dirt, rust, oil etc.
Step 2 – Rinse and Dry
Step 3 – Mask
Step 4 – Powder Coat & Cure
